Bihar runs recruitment through three main bodies, and several windows are open right now. The state's teacher recruitment in particular operates at a scale few others match.

The three bodies, and what each handles
- BPSC — Bihar Public Service Commission. Civil services, the Assistant Public Prosecutor cadre, and the large school teacher recruitment exercises.
- BPSSC — Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission. Sub-Inspector, Company Commander and other police officer posts.
- BTSC — Bihar Technical Service Commission. Technical and specialist posts across departments, including veterinary, fishery and health.
Candidates frequently apply to the wrong portal because the names are similar. Check which body issued your notification before registering.
BTSC specialist posts are worth knowing about
Fishery Extension Officer and Touring Veterinary Officer are the kind of recruitment that never trends but consistently has better odds than general drives, because eligibility is restricted to specific degrees. A candidate with a fisheries or veterinary qualification is competing against a field of hundreds, not lakhs.

BPSSC Company Commander
Sixty-five posts, closing 10 October. Company Commander is an officer-level police post, so expect physical standards and a multi-stage selection process alongside the written examination. Candidates should check the physical requirement before applying rather than after.
Practical notes for Bihar recruitment
- Domicile and residence conditions apply to several state posts. Read the eligibility paragraph carefully if you are applying from outside Bihar.
- Category certificates must be in the format the state specifies, which is not always the central format. This is the most common rejection cause — see our checklist.
- State recruitment cycles run long. A notification in October may not reach appointment for well over a year, so apply to multiple openings rather than waiting on one.
