UPESSC PRT Assistant Teacher 2026 — 12,405 Posts in UP Primary Schools
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission is recruiting 12,405 Assistant Teachers for primary schools under Advertisement No. 05/2026. This is the largest teaching recruitment currently open anywhere in India.
Applications close 15 October 2026, and the written examination is already scheduled for 3 and 4 December 2026 — an unusually short gap that leaves about seven weeks to prepare.

The urban posts under Basic Education account for 93 per cent of the recruitment. The affiliated primary posts sit under a different department with their own conditions, so read the eligibility table for the stream you are applying to rather than the general one.
One Time Registration comes first. UPESSC requires candidates to complete OTR before they can apply for any advertised post. If you have not registered, do that today rather than on 15 October — OTR is a separate process and the portal is heavily loaded near deadlines.
Age limit
Candidates must be between 21 and 40 years as on 1 July 2026. Note the reference date. It is not the date you apply, and the band is unusually wide for a teaching recruitment, which is part of why this drive is drawing such a large field. Relaxations apply as per UPESSC rules against a valid certificate.

Three marks per question is a heavier weighting than most teaching exams use, which makes each answer matter more than candidates accustomed to one-mark papers expect. Confirm the negative marking rule in the notification before deciding how much to guess.
What to do now
- Complete OTR on the UPESSC portal if you have not already.

- Apply well before 15 October. The correction window on 19 October is short and does not cover every field.
- Start subject revision now. Seven weeks from closing to exam is not long.
