Army TGC 145 — the officer route for engineers

Technical Graduate Course entries commission engineering graduates as officers without a written examination. Selection runs through shortlisting on degree marks, then the Services Selection Board interview, then a medical board.

Vacancies are small, around thirty, and spread across engineering disciplines. That makes the degree percentage cut-off the real filter. If your marks are strong, this is one of the shortest routes to a commission available to a civilian graduate.

CRPF sports quota — 521 posts

Sports quota recruitment selects on sporting achievement rather than a written test, with roughly 521 Constable and Head Constable posts. Candidates need documented representation at the levels the notification specifies, and those certificates are verified strictly.

If you competed at state or national level and hold the paperwork, this is a route with a field measured in thousands rather than lakhs. If you do not, the general CRPF and CAPF recruitments run separately.

Medical standards eliminate more candidates here than anything else. Vision, hearing, height, chest and general fitness are checked at the end of the process across all four of these. Read the medical standard for your specific post before applying, not after you have cleared everything else.

ITBP Head Constable

A small technical intake covering Motor Mechanic and related trades, open from 28 September to 27 October. These posts suit ITI-qualified candidates with the relevant trade certificate, and the numbers are modest, which keeps the field manageable.

Coast Guard Group C — note the offline route

Indian Coast Guard Group C recruitment runs on offline application, which catches out candidates used to online portals. Applications have to reach the specified address by 3 November 2026, so post them with time to spare rather than on the deadline.

Before you apply to any of these

  1. Measure yourself against the physical standards. Height and chest requirements are non-negotiable and are the most common elimination.
  2. Check the medical standard for your post, especially vision requirements.
  3. For sports quota, confirm your certificates are from the recognised bodies the notification names.
  4. For offline applications, allow a week for post rather than assuming next-day delivery.
