Court and Judicial Recruitment Open in October 2026
High court recruitment is one of the least-tracked corners of government hiring, and one of the better-paid. Both windows covered here have now closed — on 30 September and 5 October 2026. The page stays up for the exam dates, selection detail and results that follow.
What is open
| Recruitment | Court | Last date |
|---|---|---|
| Assistant Grade III | Madhya Pradesh High Court | 30 September 2026 |
| Senior Personal Assistant and Personal Assistant | Delhi High Court | 5 October 2026 |
| Junior Judicial Assistant | Delhi High Court | Check the current notice |
Why court recruitment is worth tracking
Three reasons candidates who know about it keep applying:
- Smaller fields. High court vacancies are advertised through court websites and state channels rather than national job portals, so the applicant pool is a fraction of an SSC drive for comparable posts.
- Comparable or better pay. Clerical and stenographic posts in high courts generally sit at pay levels equal to or above their SSC equivalents.
- Predictable work. Court establishment posts are non-transferable in most cases, which matters if staying in one city is a priority.
Stenography and typing decide most of these. Personal Assistant and Senior Personal Assistant posts require shorthand at a prescribed speed, and the skill test is eliminating regardless of your written score. If you do not already have shorthand, these are not a realistic target this cycle — but typing-based posts like Assistant Grade III are.
What the selection usually looks like
- A written examination covering general knowledge, English, reasoning and often computer knowledge.
- A typing or shorthand skill test, qualifying but eliminating.
- Document verification.
Some courts add an interview for senior posts. The written stage is generally less demanding than SSC CGL, which is part of why these posts represent good value for a candidate with the right skill test ability.
How to find them
This is the practical difficulty. Court vacancies are published on individual high court websites and are not always picked up promptly by aggregators. If you are targeting them, check your own state's high court recruitment page directly and monthly, and watch the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court pages regardless of where you live.
Building the skill
Typing speed is the highest-return investment available to a 12th pass or graduate candidate targeting clerical government work. It is required in SSC CHSL, in several RRB NTPC posts, and across court recruitment. See the 12th pass guide for where else it applies.
