Posts are further distributed subject by subject. The figure that matters to you is the count in your own subject within your category, not the headline total — a popular subject can have a handful of seats inside a 2,607-post recruitment.

The age band is unusually wide. 21 to 62 years, far broader than almost any other government recruitment. Aided school teaching posts do not carry the tight upper limits that SSC and railway recruitment do, which makes this a realistic route for experienced candidates who have aged out of central exams.

Eligibility

  • A master's degree in the relevant subject.
  • B.Ed or the equivalent teacher training qualification.
  • A Ph.D or M.Ed in the concerned subject is accepted where the notification specifies it.
  • Teaching eligibility as required for the post — check the clause for your subject.

Subject-to-degree matching is verified strictly at the document stage. Your master's subject must correspond to the post you applied for; a related discipline is usually not accepted.

Pay

The pay band runs from approximately ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100, placing PGT posts around Pay Level 8 territory. That is comparable to a Level 8 central government post, reached through a state recruitment with a far smaller candidate pool. Use the salary calculator to see how a pay band converts to take-home.

Selection

An objective written examination on 15 and 16 December 2026, followed by document verification. Subject knowledge carries the weight here — general teaching methodology alone does not get you through a Pravakta paper.

With the exam in mid-December and applications closing 17 October, there are roughly eight weeks between the two. That is enough to revise a subject you already know well and not enough to learn one you do not.

How to apply
