SSC CPO SI 2026 Online Form — 1,871 Sub-Inspector Posts, Closes 30 September

Status update, 6 October 2026. Applications for SSC CPO 2026 closed on 30 September, with fee payment on 1 October. The correction window ran 8 to 10 October. The exam date has not yet been announced.

The Staff Selection Commission is recruiting 1,871 Sub-Inspectors for Delhi Police, the Central Armed Police Forces and CISF Fire. Any graduate aged 20 to 25 on 1 August 2026 can apply, the fee is ₹100, and the form closes on 30 September 2026 at 11:00 PM.

Two things here trip up more candidates than the exam does: a driving licence requirement that applies only to Delhi Police male candidates, and height and physical standards checked long after you have paid and studied.

Vacancy breakdown

PostVacancies
Sub-Inspector (Executive) Male, Delhi Police205
Sub-Inspector (Executive) Female, Delhi Police112
Sub-Inspector (GD) in CAPFs — CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB1,320
Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF234
Total1,871

A handful of reports give the total as 2,018 rather than 1,871. The breakdown above adds to 1,871 exactly, which is why we use it. Vacancies are tentative and SSC may revise them.

The driving licence rule. Male candidates applying for Delhi Police SI must hold a valid LMV licence covering motorcycle and car on the date of the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test. Without it, you are eligible for CAPF posts only. If you do not hold one and cannot get one in time, apply accordingly rather than discovering this at the ground.

Application fee

CategoryFee
General, OBC and EWS₹100
Women, SC, ST and eligible ex-servicemenNo fee

Note the split deadline: the form closes on 30 September but fee payment runs until 1 October. An unpaid application is incomplete and SSC does not chase you about it.

Age limit

Age is calculated as on 1 August 2026, not the date you apply.

PostAge band
SI Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs20 to 25 years
SI (Fire) in CISF18 to 30 years

The 20 to 25 band is unusually tight for a central recruitment, and it is the reason many otherwise strong candidates cannot apply. Standard relaxations apply for OBC, SC, ST and other eligible categories against a valid certificate held on the cut-off date.

Education

  • SI Delhi Police and SI (GD) CAPFs — bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
  • SI (Fire) CISF — a B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or matriculation plus a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication engineering.

The qualification must be held by 30 September 2026, the closing date. Final year candidates may apply, but only if the degree is actually acquired by that date. Merely having appeared in the qualifying examination is not enough, and the notification states this explicitly.

Physical standards

RequirementMaleFemale
Minimum height170 cm157 cm

Chest measurement and endurance standards apply as set out in the notification, and relaxations exist for certain categories and regions. These are checked at the PET and PST stage, after Paper-I. A candidate who clears the written paper but falls short on height has spent months preparing for nothing, so measure before you apply rather than after.

Selection process and the revised scheme

  1. Paper-I — computer based, 100 questions for 100 marks. Negative marking 0.25 per wrong answer.
  2. PET and PST — physical endurance and measurement tests, qualifying.
  3. Paper-II — 160 questions for 320 marks across four subjects. Negative marking 0.50 per wrong answer.
  4. Detailed Medical Examination.

Paper-II is the part worth noticing. At 320 marks against Paper-I's 100, it carries most of the weight in the final merit, and the heavier negative marking of 0.50 punishes guessing much harder. Candidates who prepare mainly for Paper-I and treat Paper-II as a formality tend to find out too late.

Salary

Sub-Inspector posts sit at Pay Level 6, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400. That is basic pay. Actual monthly credit depends on dearness allowance, house rent allowance for your posting city, and deductions. CAPF postings carry liability to serve anywhere in India, which matters as much as the number.

How to apply

  1. Complete One-Time Registration at ssc.gov.in if you have not already.
  2. Open the SSC SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination, 2026 link.
  3. Fill in details exactly as on your Class 10 certificate.
  4. Capture the live photograph as instructed, with good lighting and a plain background, and upload your signature in the prescribed JPEG format.
  5. Use the preview option and check every field before submitting.
  6. Pay the ₹100 fee if applicable, then save the submitted application PDF.

Do not leave this to 30 September. Traffic on the SSC portal on closing day is heavy and submission failures are common. See our document checklist for what to have ready first.
