RRB Technician City Intimation Slip 2026 Out — CBT Runs 6 to 9 October
The Railway Recruitment Boards released the city intimation slip for Technician Grade I Signal and Grade III on 27 September 2026. The computer based test is under way, running 6 to 9 October 2026 for 6,557 vacancies under CEN 02/2026. With the sittings complete or nearly so, the next milestones are the provisional answer key and the objection window.
The slip is not your entry pass. It tells you the city, date and shift so you can book travel. The e-Call Letter, which is the document that gets you into the hall, arrives roughly four days before your own exam date.
Key dates
| Notice number | CEN 02/2026 |
|---|---|
| City slip released | 27 September 2026, for candidates sitting on 6 October |
| CBT dates | 6, 7, 8 and 9 October 2026 |
| e-Call Letter | Approximately 4 days before your exam date |
| Total vacancies | 6,557 |
Slips are released in batches, not all at once. The board publishes each candidate's city slip about ten days ahead of that candidate's own exam date. So a 27 September release covers the 6 October sitting. If yours is on 8 or 9 October, your slip appears a couple of days later. An empty login today is not a problem.
Vacancy split
| Post | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Technician Grade I Signal | 323 |
| Technician Grade III | 6,234 |
| Total | 6,557 |
One widely circulated report gives the total as 6,565 rather than 6,557. The 6,557 split above is the one most sources agree on, and it is the one that adds up. Confirm against the notice itself before relying on it.
How to download the city slip
- Open the Railway Recruitment Board portal for your region, or the RRB application portal.
- Find the link for CEN 02/2026 Technician — Exam City and Date Intimation.
- Enter your registration number and your password, which is your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format.
- Complete the captcha and submit.
- Your allotted city, exam date and shift appear on screen. Save a copy.
A note on the address: reports point to three different URLs for this, including the main railway recruitment domain, the application portal and the exam vendor's domain. They are not all wrong, because RRB splits functions across them, but it does mean a link that worked for a friend may not be the one you need. Start from the official board site rather than a link forwarded on WhatsApp.
What the slip shows
- Name, registration number and roll number
- Allotted exam city and state
- Exam date and shift timing
- Reporting time
- Photograph and signature as submitted
- Free travel pass details, for candidates eligible under SC and ST provisions
That last item is worth acting on rather than skimming past. Eligible candidates travelling any distance are entitled to a pass, and it has to be arranged before you travel, not claimed afterwards.
What to do now
If you have already sat the paper, keep your city slip and call letter — both are routinely asked for at later stages. Candidates who wait for the call letter before booking routinely end up travelling overnight and sitting the paper on no sleep.
Check your photograph and signature on the slip. If either is missing or wrong, contact the concerned regional board now, while there is still time to resolve it. Waiting until the call letter is out leaves you four days.

Questions
Can I enter the exam hall with the city slip?
No. The city slip carries limited information and is not an entry document. You need the e-Call Letter, which is issued separately about four days before your exam date.
My city slip is not showing. What now?
Slips are released roughly ten days before each candidate's own exam date, so if you are sitting on 8 or 9 October yours is not due yet. If your date is 6 October and nothing appears, check your login details and then contact the regional board.
Can I change my exam city?
No. City allotment is final once published. Plan travel around the city you have been given.
When does the admit card come out?
About four days before your exam. Candidates sitting on 6 October should start checking from around 2 October.

Where sources disagree: the vacancy total is reported as both 6,557 and 6,565, and three different portal addresses are cited for the download. Confirm both on the board's own site.
