Applications open · closes 3 November 2026
JKSSB Class-IV 2026 — 2,863 Posts, and a Qualification Ceiling Most Candidates Miss
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board is recruiting 2,863 Class-IV (Multi Tasking Staff) and Sanitation Worker posts under Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026. Applications opened on 5 October and close on 3 November 2026.
One condition sets this apart from almost every other recruitment in the country, and it is the opposite of what candidates expect.
There is a maximum qualification, not just a minimum. For Class-IV (MTS) the requirement is matriculation as the floor and 10+2 as the ceiling. Candidates holding a qualification higher than 10+2 are not eligible to apply. A graduate cannot apply for these posts. This catches people out every cycle because every other recruitment treats a higher qualification as an advantage.

Cadre breakdown
| Cadre | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Divisional Cadre, Jammu and Kashmir | 1,990 |
| District Cadres | 768 |
| UT Cadre | 105 |
| Total | 2,863 |
Posts sit across various departments of the Jammu and Kashmir government, with the General Administration Department as the indenting authority. Because the bulk is divisional and district cadre, your realistic competition is the field applying to your own cadre rather than all 2,863 posts.
Domicile is non-negotiable
Applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and a valid Domicile Certificate from the competent authority must be in hand on or before 3 November 2026, unless the date is extended.
This is not a formality checked later. Arrange the certificate before you apply rather than after, because obtaining one takes time and the deadline is the deadline.
